Current Online Poster Show: Happiness: Life is Beautiful
The International Vintage Poster Dealer’s Association( IVPDA), invites you to explore the original vintage posters featured in our latest web show, “Life is Beautiful: Posters That Make You Smile.” Browse through the collections of more than 60 of the world’s most knowledgeable and trusted poster dealers and enjoy these gorgeous graphic images.
Posters emerged in the late 19th century with the singular purpose of advertising or sharing a message with the masses. This unique form possessed the power to persuade audiences and promote political viewpoints, wars, exotic destinations and consumer goods. By the 1890’s the public’s interest in posters grew worldwide with clubs and magazines guiding the new collectors in this art form.
With that, we proudly launch our spring web show, “Life is Beautiful: Posters That Make You Smile.” In times of bliss and in times of strife, posters were created. Those created in uncertain times were often meant to provide hope for the future. For those created in times of peace and happiness, they were meant to serve as a celebration of life. Browse this lively online exposition and undoubtedly you will feel the emotion invoked by the artist. Whether you’re viewing “The Favor Lipstick” or “Noisetta Tobler” the reaction will remain the same; a smile or laughter!
Indulge your eye with the hundreds of original vintage posters in this exhibit! Every genre is represented, including entertainment, military and propaganda, sports, travel, food, film, music and product advertising. These rare treasures from around the world represent many eras including Art Nouveau, Moderne, Mid-Century, Art Deco and more. Our IVPDA Online Gallery provides an opportunity to see authentic vintage posters by many noted artists as well as some rare and obscure unsigned gems. To purchase these works, follow the links to the respective member’s website. The IVPDA website also contains useful consumer information on how to identify and purchase original vintage posters.
