Current Online Poster Show: Around the World with Vintage Posters
Explore the Seven Wonders of the World, "fly the friendly skies" or sail the open seas with the International Vintage Poster Dealers Association (IVPDA) new online exhibit, "Around the World with Vintage Posters." This new web show offers poster collectors, history buffs and travel enthusiasts the opportunity to see and buy original vintage posters from members of the IVPDA.
"Travel posters are one of the most collectible categories of vintage posters," says Mireille Romand, IVPDA president, "Many recognize the vintage travel poster Cote D'Azur by Fix Masseau, but to actually own that original poster is a collectors dream, and the kind of dream an IVPDA dealer can make possible through this exhibit."
The original vintage posters offered in this dynamic show are as beautiful as the destinations they once advertised. Steamships, Railroads, and Airlines are all showcased in the exhibition. The viewer will see how travel was represented in the 1890's by Belle Epoque artists such as Jules Cheret and Hugo D'Alesi then witness how dramatically it changed as transportation sped up in the time period of machine age art deco, as captured by Pierre Fix Masseau and A.M. Cassandre. Finally, the viewer will be delighted with the happy post war period Aviation posters advertising Air France, TWA and United Airlines by great artists including Lucien Boucher, David Klein and Stan Galli.
"Around the World with Vintage Posters" is part of a series of ongoing online exhibitions offered by the IVPDA. Please visit the IVPDA website at www.ivpda.com to explore the online exhibit, find a poster dealer or learn more about original vintage posters. Collectors can buy with confidence as all posters sold by IVPDA members are guaranteed to be original, vintage posters.
