Located on Newbury Street in Boston since 1994, International Poster Gallery is one of the world's leading antique poster galleries. Its owner, Jim Lapides, studied Italian art at Yale and in Italy, where he fell in love with Italian posters. The gallery's collection features fine advertising posters from 1890 to the present, specializing in Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Modernist masterpieces from France, Italy, Switzerland, Soviet Union, U.S. and around the globe. Subjects include food, beverage, travel, sports, fashion, war, propaganda, and the arts. In 1998, the Gallery launched its award-winning website which now features more than 4,500 in-stock items. I have been buying and selling original posters for 20 years now. My interest in posters grew out of a love for children's images from the 19th and early 20th centuries. I originally dealt in all kinds of paper with an emphasis on children's themes. In fact, my business was originally called "Art for Children". As my exposure to posters increased, I gradually transitioned into the buying and selling of original vintage posters only. Many of you know me from doing Antique Shows and Poster Fairs from New York to Florida to Chicago and to the west coast. Since 1999, I have had a website, and I encourage interested parties to visit it periodically since I update it frequently.
