The International Vintage Poster Dealers Association( IVPDA), invites you to explore the original vintage posters featured in our latest web show, Battle of the Sexes: An Exploration of Gender through Vintage Posters. Browse through the collections of more than 60 of the worlds most knowledgeable and trusted poster dealers and enjoy these gorgeous graphic images.
The conversation about the role of gender in advertising and mass media began with posters. Artists used gender to persuade audiences and promote political viewpoints, wars, exotic destinations and consumer goods. This online exhibit showcases striking vintage posters that document the portrayal of gender through the past century, with fine examples including, Francesco Tamganos Cachou Lajaunie, J. Howard Miller's iconic "We Can Do It!," and René Vincents "Porto Ramos Pinto."
These vintage treasures represent the Belle Époque, Art Nouveau, Moderne, Mid-Century Modern, and Art Deco styles. Our IVPDA Online Gallery provides an opportunity to see authentic vintage posters by many noted artists as well as some rare and obscure unsigned gems. To purchase these works, follow the links to the respective members website. The IVPDA website also contains useful consumer information on how to identify and purchase original vintage posters.
