L'IMAGE gallery opened in 1998 and is located in the charming seaside town of Alassio on the Italian Riviera between Portofino and Monte Carlo. Set in an early 20th century building with four windows facing the Mediterranean, L'IMAGE welcomes visitors to a unique kind of atmosphere, stepping back to the bygone age of luxury travel with vintage trunks, authentic Art Deco furniture and memorabilia from the glorious trains de luxe of the Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits and the famous ocean liner, the Normandie. Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Modernism: all the splendid and iconic vintage posters are displayed under our high ceilings, showcasing their beauty. We focus on Italian and international travel posters with an exhaustive Italian travel poster collection ("Travel Italia" reference book by Abrams, New York) and a large collection of Italian food and drink posters ("Manifesti Posters Eat & Drink in Italian Advertising 1890-1970" reference book by Silvana Editoriale). Many of the pieces owned by L'IMAGE gallery have been featured in highly recognised publications, as well as in exhibitions at international museums. For further enjoyment, a book corner full of international coffee-table books (not only about posters), and our most careful attention to detail, completes the experience of visiting L'IMAGE in Alassio.
