This new edition of the reference book 'Affiches de sports d'hiver', published by Galerie 1 2 3 in collaboration with Citadelles Mazenod - Paris, presents 228 poster images, mainly from the Galerie 1 2 3 Collection. (In French only)
Based on new research, this edition revises and clarifies some of the dates and information on the posters reproduced in the book. The quality of the photographs has also been improved.
These iconic posters have left their mark on the history of both posters and winter sports. They document the birth and development of winter tourism from the end of the 19th century, particularly in Switzerland, France, Austria and Italy.
From mountain resorts to palaces and grand hotels, from sporting competitions to the most fashionable clothes and equipment, these posters bear witness to a society in the throes of change, enjoying now its hobbies on the snowy slopes.
